Tired of Cleaning Your Fireplace? - Reuse It & Clean No More:
A fireplace usually serves dual purposes in a room, heating and a design
focal point.
But if you think about it when you do not have a fire burning just
how beautiful is that dirty old fireplace? Over time residue builds
up in the chimney from burning wood which can be dangerous if not
properly cleaned out from time to time. Then there is that unsightly
black residue that builds up on the inside walls and surrounding
areas. If you are not using the fireplace as a heating source for
your home reuse it to avoid some of that back breaking cleanup.
Visit your local dollar store and stock up on
several large pillar candles. Arrange the candles in the center of
your fireplace interior. You could even surround the base of the
candles with faux greenery or a live plant that does not require
direct sunlight. Often times you can locate cut colored glass or
marble pieces in your dollar store or craft store to place around
the candles as filler to cover the bottom of the fireplace if a
plant is not an option for you.
Look in home repair stores such as Lowes or Home
Depot at the wide selection of outdoor landscaping stones. They are
usually sold in 10-25lb bags for under $20 and come in a variety of
colors and textures to accent your room. Landscaping stones can be
used in many ways inside your home. Arrange them in the bottom of
your fireplace as a base to place candles on. You can top off the
dirt in your potted plants with small stones to hide the dirt in the
pot. The possibilities are endless, however take caution with small
pieces and small children you do not want to introduce a choking
hazard to your children.
